A Conversation with Agni Zotis: Art, Light, and the Future of Education

Writer: AGNI ZOTISAGNI ZOTIS

Catching up with Agni Zotis is always an enlightening experience. As a multimedia artist, certified yoga instructor, meditation teacher, functional nutritionist, wellness and health coach, and now pursuing trauma counseling certification, Agni’s work extends beyond the canvas—into the realms of well-being, education, and human connection.

Her commitment to democratizing education through AI, in collaboration with the Knowverse AI Team, and her work with MAY Kids Transform (maykidstransform.org)—a foundation she established to empower youth and educators through mindfulness, arts, and yoga—continue to inspire and create meaningful impact.

Future Projects and Conversations

During our recent discussion in downtown Manhattan, we explored some of Agni’s upcoming projects, including her role as a Director of EMBCA (East Mediterranean Business Culture Alliance). She is preparing for a panel discussion titled “Journey and Reflections on Kastoria,” a place she has lived and deeply connected with, where she also plans to host an art exhibition.

The Transformative Power of Light in Art

Agni Zotis is internationally recognized for her light-sensitive paintings, which transform under different lighting conditions. Her work explores the interplay between the microcosm and macrocosm, using color, form, and energy to bring order to chaos.

By meticulously crafting her pigments with crystal quartz, gold flakes, gold leaf, and ground sterling silver, Agni creates works that are not just paintings but living, breathing entities that shift and evolve with their environment. Her mastery of light as a medium goes beyond its physical properties—it is a metaphor for knowledge, enlightenment, and transformation.

Light is a central element in her artistic language, enhancing the mood and atmosphere of her paintings. Through the interplay of light and shadow, she creates a sense of dimensionality that invites viewers to embark on a journey of self-discovery and introspection.

A Spiritual Connection: Hilma af Klint & Agni Zotis

In a fascinating way, Agni Zotis and Hilma af Klint, though separated by time and cultural context, share remarkable similarities. Both artists intertwine spirituality, symbolism, and abstraction, using their art as a bridge between the seen and the unseen.

Hilma af Klint, a pioneer of abstract art, was influenced by Theosophy and Anthroposophy, expressing a deep spiritual connection in her work. Similarly, Agni’s work draws from Eastern philosophies and esoteric traditions, creating pieces that resonate with a universal quest for enlightenment.

Their shared ability to merge abstraction with mysticism challenges viewers to engage beyond the material world, offering a glimpse into the hidden layers of consciousness.

Art That Transcends Boundaries

Agni Zotis’ work is exhibited globally and held in public and private collections worldwide, including my own—three of her paintings grace my apartment in Athens and my office.

Her ability to channel light, knowledge, and spirituality into her work continues to captivate audiences and push artistic boundaries. Whether through her paintings, her efforts in education, or her holistic wellness teachings, Agni Zotis embodies the fusion of art, consciousness, and care—a rare and powerful force shaping both the present and the future.
